Welcome to a New BloggerLifter

Lou Archiello, someone who I would chat with on the GoHeavy forums and was wondering where me, John McDonald, and Colin went, has taken up my suggestion and posted a blog of his own. Like John and a few people here, he competes. He is also trying to come back from a layoff, and I think these blogs may be just the thing he needs. His blog address is http://lscrewy.blogspot.com. Let's give him a warm welcome and get his blog up to speed.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am going to try and post every day/after I lift. It's going to take me a little time to get used to this blog stuff. Anyway--Alberto you mentioned that you don't do a lot of try work, but try to do a little more high volume work with the bench. I also went this way and still do, but tweak it a little. For about 4 months I would all ways do reps of 10. If I could do 135-I would then go to 140 then 145 until the next 10 was reached. The problem that I ran into was, if I could only do 140x10 and then went to 155-I could only do maybe 3 reps. Now this is were I started to change it up. I still do the high reps, but also do the low reps as well. Warm up 135x10--Then go for a 5 rep max-225-then go for a 10 rep max 205. See once I got the 225-I went up to 230--once you get the 205-you go up to 210. I also keep a record list of all reps. Like 1-rep max--2rep max -3-4-5 and so on. It's great when some days is your ME day and you don't want to go for a 1 or 2 rep---go for a 4rep. I love this system and it keeps you improving every time you lift. Here's the best part: You are always breaking your own records. So each workout is almost always a sucess! I'll post more tomarrow.

About all your site needs now is a little sprucing up and some links for you to look at. If you need help Kris, Scott, Chris, or Stinn are good at this computer stuff and can get you up to speed.

As for the higher reps, I'm slowly working my way up. For a while it was 3s and singles, then 4s and sixes, now 5x5 and some 8s and 10s. Somewhere in my next cycle I'll probably have benches as an accessory movement where I can do 2-3 sets of 10. What are your goal lifts?

Goal lifts--
March 31st--230x6 or 225x10 on the bench
Dead--380x3 or 400x1 raw standing on 45 lb plates.
squat--just squat all the time and maybe try to get 225x10
Long term goals--by June/july
bench 300 raw
dead 425 raw
squat 300x3 raw
No real idea yet! Just want to lift everyday. Need to get my squat up. It's kind of sad. Oh, my other goal is to stay at 183-184
